How can Ikando help your organization?

If you are an organisation that needs additional skills and manpower for a certain period of time but have limited resources to fund this need, Ikando can help. We have the specialist knowledge to recruit volunteers who will have the expertise you need.

What will having an Ikando volunteer involve?

When you apply, Ikando will send forms requiring:

  • A detailed description of your organisation
  • A job description for the volunteer that you need
  • An outline of how a typical day at work would be for your volunteer
  • Contact details for the nearest emergency doctor or health facilities for the volunteer when in placement

Contact details for a person within the organization who will be the liaison with the Ikando volunteer during their placement. The host organisation contact person must be contacted, in case of emergency, 24 hours a day during the placement. This person must also communicate regularly with the in-country Ikando volunteer coordinator to ensure the volunteer is happy in the placement and with the accommodation provided.

Once the forms have been completed, you will be contacted by Ikando to organize an inspection visit from the Ikando volunteer co-ordinator to assess the workplace and accommodation. Following this inspection, you will be notified by Ikando either to confirm the placement or any additional arrangements that are needed before we can place a volunteer with you. Ikando will then actively recruit to place a suitable volunteer with you as soon as possible.

As soon as a volunteer is found, you will be notified and full details provided both of the volunteer and your nominated Ikando volunteer coordinator. The Ikando volunteer coordinator can be contacted 24 hours a day in case of any emergency.

During the volunteer placement, Ikando will visit the volunteer and your organisation regularly to ‘health check’ the placement. This visit is to ensure that the placement is running smoothly and provides an opportunity for the volunteer and organisation to air any concerns.

How do I apply for volunteers?

Please email us at organisations@ikando.org and an Ikando representative will contact you as soon as possible.
